Rough Luxe Hotel – Kings Cross

The Rough Luxe is a fantastic little boutique hotel where every room is different from the next and each has an interesting piece of contemporary art on the wall. It’s handy in terms of location. Kings Cross might not be much to look at but Rough Luxe is situated on a quaint street opposite the station and it’s ideal if you’re coming in on the Eurostar and perfect for multiple tube and bus links. Housed in a tall narrow Georgian town house, what the rooms lack in space they make up for in luxury. Linen sheets, antique furniture, gorgeous bedspreads and modern art are a few things to expect. They don’t serve meals except for an epic continental breakfast, which is sufficient since there are plenty of great restaurants nearby. There is a tiny little lobby with a narrow staircase winding up several stories reminding me of a New York tenement building, with deliberately unpainted walls, a nice juxtaposition against the perfectly styled and immaculate rooms. As much as I love the unique quality of this hotel, if space is what you are after then this isn’t the hotel for you but if you’re after a memorable and quirky place to say then I can’t recommend it more.
