If Broadway market with its thick abundance of pushchairs and the middle classes, in what was not so long ago a very working class, east end neighbourhood, makes you nauseous then The Dove is the bucket in which to be sick. It’s totally bourgeois and full of smug locals who read The Observer and The Guardian and don’t hide the fact that they love that The Dove is their local pub. It’s the kind of place people look up distractedly from the person they are talking to at everyone walking by to see if they recognise them. Having said that, it is really lovely with a nice atmosphere, good food, and most importantly great furniture – tapestry backed chairs and heavy wood. It’s also great for sitting outside and people watching and has lots of cosy nooks to sit in.
