Tea more tea and tea. They specialise in tea. A little like Mariage Frères in Paris, the main walls have giant decorative tea tins stacked floor to ceiling advertising all the different kinds of (mainly black) tea they have on offer. Orange Pekoe is a bit of a hot spot for anyone and everyone in Barnes with children and push chairs it appears, but perhaps that was only because it was a bank holiday here’s hoping. Barnes is an area that is so cut off from the rest of London that I’m not even quite sure it qualifies as London but Orange Pekoe is next to the river so it’s lovely on a sunny day. It has quite a large and usually more or less unoccupied back area where you can sit with a nice cup of tea and a piece of cake or a scone with jam or a custard tart.
