Named after Princess Margaret, who, when she got married, became Margaret Armstrong-Jones, they used to come here for dinner a lot. You wouldn’t know it from the name but Maggie Jones is so so French in appearance anyway, and if you’ve read many of my reviews you may have picked up that I have a thing for all and everything French, foodwise Maggie is trying to be as English as they can – fish pie, puddings with custard, cabbage! It’s a bit of maze with tables tucked into every corner, it’s totally rammed with clutter which adds to its eclectic and authentic atmosphere. The food here is delicious. It’s simple and excellently cooked. Basically a fish. On the bone. With vegetables. Cooked with shit loads of butter. That’s it. I love butter.
