La Bouche

La Bouche is great when it’s not busy but these times are rare. The fact that it’s a deli as well as a café increases its popularity and it’s invariably overrun by pushchairs taking up what little space there is, but that is a recurring problem with Broadway Market as a whole. Problem is I really love places with furniture that looks like it’s been made of wood dug up from the bottom of a swamp in the Everglades and shelves stacked with food from small farms in Provence, and I’m a total sucker for packaging. It’s a nice spot for lunch too, with sandwiches being made to order, and the salads! Amazing salads! When I worked at the ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ around the corner getting my lunch at La Bouche was the real low point in my day due to the fact that you never quite know if the last portion of salad you have your eye on is going to go to the customer who just barged in front of you or if the sandwich you plan to order will have run out of smoked Alaskan salmon, I just don’t need this kind of stress in my day, it’s worth it though.
