Cay Tre

Cay Tre is Vietnamese food for white people. If you want something more authentic you are better off with any of the 101 Vietnamese restaurants on Kingsland Road. However if like me you are scared of food poisoning then ‘Cay Tre’ is for you. Of all the inexpensive Vietnamese restaurants I have been to in London, I rate this the best, mainly because I like the wallpaper. The food is cheap and really good. Other people will tell you that Hanoi Cafe or Viet Hoa are better but they look like the back dining room of a depressing hotel in Slough. If you have to wait for a table (it’s advisable to book) you can amuse yourself with the Shoreditch fashion crowd who insist on looking ugly and ridiculous at all times. I love it.
