In an old Soho townhouse, a throwback to Dickensian London, is Parisian café meets English country house. For years I walked past it not even knowing it was here. Andrew Edmunds is without question my favourite restaurant in London. It’s elegant with an intimate and romantic atmosphere with small tables and rustic old church pews illuminated by tapered candles. Widely known as London’s most romantic restaurant it lacks any kind of pretence, just serves up incredible modern European food with a distinctive British edge and a menu that changes daily. The service can be a little slow, a waitress wanders up and asks if we’d like to order, “hmmm I’ve been sitting here for ages wondering what it was that I needed to do and you get it straight off, go figure”. It doesn’t matter though as I don’t like to be rushed, I like to spend the whole evening here ordering every course.
